🪖 As we approach Memorial Day, let's "take a moment to reflect on what this day truly represents."
— It is not about those currently serving.
— It is not about our veterans.
— It is not even about the families of the fallen, the wounded, or the living.
Memorial Day is about honoring those who gave their lives—for all of us.
We honor the fallen not by remembering them just one day a year—but by how we live every single day.
We honor them by how we treat the country they died for and the freedoms their sacrifice secured.
We honor them by voting, by paying attention to where and why we send our troops, and by how we engage with our nation’s decisions about war and peace.
We honor them by holding our leaders accountable and standing up for what is right.
We honor them by listening to others, learning from different perspectives, and working together to create meaningful change.
We honor them by living lives of character—loving our families, choosing purpose over profit, and embracing the everyday moments they can no longer enjoy
We honor them by caring for our veterans and respecting the service members who still wear the uniform today.
In a society that often pedestalizes celebrities and entertainers, let us remember who the real heroes are.
This Memorial Day, join Lawrence Lopez in honoring:
🔷 Sergeant Michael R. Lehmiller
🔷 Sergeant Federico G. Borjas
🔷 Staff Sergeant Aaron Butler
🔷 Sergeant First Class Jerry Pollatos
🔷 Major Brent R. Taylor
🔷 Major Mathew B. Wharton
These brave souls are my heroes, along with all our fallen brothers and sisters. They made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor and remember you, and may you forever rest in peace.
Final thought:
“Be an American worth dying for.”
